Dancing for Diabetes Featured at Steinmetz Hall’s First-Year Anniversary
Steinmetz Hall, an exceptional and acoustically superb theater, commemorated its first year of successful operation on January 14. The milestone celebration marks the launch of a new year of fantastic programming, beginning with the Great American Orchestra Series, which showcases classical ensembles from world-renowned orchestras such as The Cleveland Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. With 140 shows and events and over 139k guests hosted in the past year, the theater's versatility in form and function has enabled us to bring a diverse array of entertainment to a broader audience, supporting a vision of Arts For Every Life®.
Performers and performing arts lovers in the region had long-awaited Steinmetz Hall's creation, which had been envisioned over two decades ago. The unique theater, a dream come true, has received well-deserved recognition from international, national, and local guests and performers who have experienced memorable performances in the world-class theater. Steinmetz Hall's creation has elevated Orlando as the cultural heart of the Southeast, placing the Dr. Phillips Center at the forefront of innovation in the arts industry.
Steinmetz Hall's engineering is an incredible feat that allows for any type of performance. The 62-foot-high, 27-foot-deep concert shell, weighing one-million-pounds, can be converted into three stage configurations: proscenium, recital, and concert, and multiple house configurations. The movable seating, accommodating up to 1,761 guests, depending on the event, provides a more extensive range of functionality than a traditional concert hall.
With 437 18-inch steel and rubber isolation pads placed between the theater and outside frame, the theater's exceptional sound quality is maintained despite any outside noise. The sound isolation technology is crucial, deadening sound from traffic, passing trains, and other ambient noise to enable guests to immerse themselves fully in their experience.
Steinmetz Hall's versatility has created an ideal space for orchestral concerts, operas, dance, recording artists, speakers, galas, banquets, and more. During the first year of operation, the theater welcomed diverse artists and performing arts groups to the stage. As they begin their second year of programming, they remain dedicated to showcasing excellence in the performing arts, with Steinmetz Hall at the forefront of innovation in the industry.
Touched by Type 1’s annual benefit show, Dancing for Diabetes, was honored to be featured during the first year.
